Putting in the washing machine seems like an easy task, but it is not. Experts have revealed the mistakes we often make when cleaning our clothes, which can cause stains and even make small holes in the clothes.
1) Do not zip up pants
If you pack your jeans in a mixed load without zipping it up, you could damage more delicate items. When your clothes come out of the wash with tears, it is possible that it is due to the open zippers.
2) Add too much detergent
If you’re loading a particularly dirty load of laundry, you might think that the more detergent you add, the better. However, too much detergent or liquid can damage the fabric and leave stains on your favorite clothes.
The residue can also make the washing machine smell bad, as well as creating small holes in the fabric that will eventually grow into larger ones.
3) Always wash cold
We prefer to put everything in the washing machine without making distinctions and, just in case, wash cold. So, we believe that our clothes are clean enough, colorfast and do not get damaged. But it is not true. Cold water is not always better and can wash clothes poorly or leave odors. Read the labels, they may recommend using warm water. A good rule of thumb is to always use the hottest temperature that your garments can withstand because, in general, they will be better cleaned with hot water.

5 benefits of using a laundry service
While some people may consider laundry service a luxury, someone who fully understands the benefits of professional cleaning knows it is a necessity. Laundry service offers benefits that you cannot get from cleaning at home. Although not all clothing needs to be washed, but proper care of the items that do it is essential to maintain their beauty and useful life.
- Dry cleaning is less abrasive
Today’s laundry service innovations use greener products and are less abrasive on your clothes than old-fashioned home washing and drying. Your delicate clothes that need special care are always handled by the best dry-cleaning practices. If you combine that with the many years of experience of the partner laundries, you can be sure that your clothes will be in good hands.
- Professional laundries pay close attention to detail
When you make your clothes at home, you also have the tasks of folding, ironing and storing items in place. However, when your items are being taken care of by a professional laundry and dry-cleaning service, they can handle all the details for you. All you have to do after receiving your items is hang them in the closet.
- They are perfect for removing stains and odors
Occasionally home remedies can remove stains, but they can do so at the cost of damaging garments. It’s a better idea to trust your items to a professional dry cleaner who can expertly remove stubborn stains and odors. If you’re thinking of throwing away certain items because you can’t remove certain stains and odors, try letting a professional dry cleaner inspect the items first.
- Laundries have the ability to handle large items
Laundries can clean larger items, including curtains, rugs, sofa covers, and oversized duvets. These can be an unmanageable task for you to handle at home. Using professional laundry services for your clothes and large items saves you time and is one less thing to worry about in your busy schedule.
- They help your clothes last much longer
When you have your clothes professionally dry cleaned and pressed, they are not exposed to fiber agitation from the washing machine, and therefore they will look better longer. The colors of the clothes will be brighter, and you will save money by not having to shop for clothes as often.
A key point to make is that your time is valuable. Let’s face it, the time we spend with our family and friends is limited, often overshadowed by work demands and tight schedules. Making clothes is a chore that can take up all day. Then there is the ironing. Having to iron a basket full of laundry doesn’t attract anyone with better things to do. Is it worth all that hassle just to save a few soles each month?
Eliminate mould stains from clothes with this trick!
Mould can be caused by moisture inside the closet or on the walls and usually affects organic or cotton garments. Moldy clothes can cause skin rashes, allergies and give off bad odors, so if this has happened to you, let me share with you a remedy to remove mold stains from clothes.
For colored clothes
You will need to:
- White vinegar
- Water
- Bucket
Process:
- Pour one cup of vinegar for every liter of water into a bucket.
- Stir very well and submerge moldy clothing.
- Let it rest for 2 hours and as the time passes, put each garment in your washing machine and activate the washing system as you normally do.
If the stains are still on your garment, repeat the process.
For light-coloured or white clothing
You will need to:
- Chlorine
- Water
- Bucket
Process:
The process is the same as the previous one, the only thing that changes is that we will use chlorine instead of vinegar.
For cotton clothing
You will need to:
- White vinegar
- Sodium bicarbonate
Process:
- In a bowl, mix a little vinegar with bicarbonate to form a paste.
- Apply this paste on top of the stain and let it absorb for a couple of hours.
- As time passes, wash your cotton garments in your washing machine and that’s it.
It will only be necessary to hang your clothes to dry and they will be like new.
